Toni Dürnberger

Toni Dürnberger (born September 11, 1932 in Sankt Martin bei Lofer ; † August 17, 1992 at Khan Tengri ) was an Austrian mountaineer and explorer.

Life

He became known as one of the first to climb the Alpawand together with Sepp Schmiderer and Hans Herbst. In 1962 he managed the first ascent of Mount Paatusoq in eastern Greenland .

Toni Dürnberger and his wife Elfi fell fatally in 1992 on the descent from the 7010  m high Khan Tengri in the Tian Shan Mountains in Kyrgyzstan .
