Toni Chike Iwobi (born April 26, 1955 in Gusau , Nigeria ) is an Italian politician of Nigerian origin. He has dual citizenship . In March 2018 he was elected to the Senate via the list of the right-wing Lega . He is the first black Italian senator.

Toni Iwobi was born in the provincial capital Gusau in northwest Nigeria as the fifth of eleven siblings in a Catholic family. He studied economics and computer science in the USA and received his doctorate there. He continued his studies in Italy and married an Italian woman from the Bergamo province. The couple has two children.

As an entrepreneur, he founded a company for hardware and software support in Spirano . He joined the Lega in 1993. From 1995 he represented them in the municipal council of his city. Again and again Iwobi defended the Lega against the accusation of racism : “The movement is not racist.” After his election to the Senate, Iwobi said: “Our country needs a government that puts the well-being of its own citizens first. ...
