SmackDown (1999-2007)
Chimel has been a ring announcer since the launch of SmackDown in 1999. That same year he defeated Howard Finkel in a tuxedo match for the right to work as a SmackDown ring announcer.
In 2004, SmackDown general manager Kurt Angle requested an apology from Chimel. He met the condition, but was released by Angle anyway . Shortly afterwards he was reinstated by Vince McMahon .
Between 2005 and 2007, Chimel was involved in a minor feud with Mr. Kennedy . Kennedy claimed that he did not announce his name with enough respect.
On December 22, 2006, he announced The Boogeyman's name too enthusiastically, which prompted Chimel to put worms in his mouth. Chimel then escaped from the ring. He used this time off to recover from his back injury and to spend more time with his family. He was represented for this time by ECW ring spokesman Justin Roberts . On April 13, 2007, Chimel returned to SmackDown.
Various brands (2007-2015)
In 2007, Chimel traded with Justin Roberts and became the ring announcer for the ECW. From April 30, 2009, he was also ring announcer for WWE Superstars . After Roberts left SmackDown and joined Raw, Chimel returned to SmackDown.
In December 2011, the returning Lilian replaced Garcia Chimel as ring announcer at SmackDown, after which he moved to WWE NXT .
Until June 2014 he was the ring announcer at WWE Main Event , he also worked on house shows and the WWE Saturday Morning Slam . He still had a few short appearances on Raw and SmackDown, but otherwise stopped appearing regularly on television.
Sporadic appearances (since 2015)
Chimel then announced a TV break at WWE and only worked as a ring announcer at house shows. Nevertheless he still had a few short appearances on live shows, mostly to announce Edge and Christian with his special way.
Private life
Chimel named his son Joey Chimel after Joey Marella, a former ring technician and referee who was killed in a car accident on July 4, 1994.
