Tony Hart

Norman Antony Hart (born October 15, 1925 in Maidstone , Kent , † January 18, 2009 in Shamley Green , Surrey ) was a British artist and television presenter .

Life

After the end of the Second World War, Hart began studying art at the Maidstone College of Art, which was interrupted by his draft for the Korean War. After graduating in 1950, he worked as a freelance artist in London . In 1952 he was hired by the BBC for the children's program Saturday Special . Until 2000 he could be seen intermittently in various children's programs. In these programs, he showed both handicrafts that could be imitated as well as large-scale image creations that could only be recognized from a bird's eye view .

Hart received two BAFTA awards for his work , including a Lifetime Achievement Award in 1998. In 2001, he retired. Two years later, his wife, to whom he had been married for 50 years, passed away. According to an interview with the Times, he had suffered from two strokes for years.
