Tools of the Trade is an EP by the English extreme metal band Carcass . It was in June 1992 by Earache Records released and appeared during the current Gods of Grind - tour to the waiting period between the 1991 album for the fans of the group Necroticism - Descanting the Insalubrious and the 1993 follow-up album Heartwork to bridge.

useful information

The four tracks of the EP were recorded as part of the recording for Necroticism - Descanting the Insalubrious . The theme song was previously unreleased, Incarnated Solvent Abuse comes from the previous studio album and the two remaining songs are new recordings of older songs by the group. Pyosisified (Rotten to the Gore) comes from the debut album Reek of Putrefaction and Hepatic Tissue Fermentation II is a new recording of a song that Carcass recorded for the 1989 compilation Pathological . A music video was shot for the theme song . Jason Birchmeier from Allmusic sees the pieces on the EP in the tradition of Necroticism . With the new recordings, Carcass is developing further away from grindcore towards more structured pieces with tempo changes instead of blastbeats , so that the EP is the link between necroticism and melodic heartwork . Because of its brevity, it is a real alternative to the epic length of the 1991 studio album.

The original version of the EP is now no longer available, the songs were included as bonus tracks on several re-releases of the band , such as the 2003 version of Necroticism and the Best of Wake Up and Smell the ... Carcass, which was first released in 1996 .
