Topografov Island ( Russian Остров Топографов Ostrow Topografow , German ' Topographeninsel ' ) is an island off the Ingrid Christensen coast of the East Antarctic Princess Elisabeth Land . It is located in the Vestfold Mountains north of Partizan Iceland in the northern part of the entrance to the Langnes Fjord .
Norwegian cartographers mapped them using aerial photographs of the Lars Christensen expedition in 1936/37 . Further aerial photographs were taken during the US operation Highjump (1947–1948), during the Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions between 1954 and 1958 and during a Soviet Antarctic expedition in 1956. Scientists on the latter research trip also named them. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names translated this designation into English in 1970.
