Torben Giehler

Torben Giehler (* 1973 in Bad Oeynhausen ) is a German painter .

Life

Torben Giehler studied from 1995 to 1999 at the School of the Museum Of Fine Arts, Boston and the New York Studio Program in New York. In 1999 he showed his thesis at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston . After graduation, he moved to New York City, where he lived until 2009. He has been living and working in Berlin since 2009.

His works have been shown in numerous international exhibitions in galleries and museums. In 2005 he was represented at the Prague Biennale and in “Greater NY” at MoMA PS1 in New York and in 2003 had a solo exhibition at the Centro de Arte Salamanca in Spain. Furthermore, his works were in renowned group exhibitions, such as Exhibited in PAINTING PICTURES at the Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg , in "abstract art now" at the Wilhelm-Hack Museum in Ludwigshafen, in the Cleveland Museum of Art, in the New Orleans Museum of Art and in the Museum of Fine Art in Boston. In 2008 he received the Falkenrot Prize with a comprehensive solo exhibition at the Künstlerhaus Bethanien in Berlin.
