Torben Ulrich

Torben Ulrich (born October 4, 1928 in Frederiksberg ) is a Danish writer, musician, filmmaker and tennis player .

Ulrich is the son of Ulla and one Ulrich , a well-known tennis player. Torben Ulrich played on the tennis tour from the late 1940s to the 1970s and on the tennis Grand Masters tour in the 1970s and 1980s. In 1976 he was the top-ranking senior player in the world. Between 1948 and 1977 he played for Denmark in the Davis Cup in 102 missions. His best placings in Grand Slam tournaments were in doubles reaching the quarter-finals at the 1968 French Open and in singles reaching the round of 16 at the US Open 1953, 1956, 1964 and 1968 and at the French Open 1959.

Torben Ulrich has directed two documentaries and published several books on music.

He now lives in Seattle , Washington, in the United States. He is the father of Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich ; himself he plays in the group Instead of, among others, with the cellist Lori Goldston .
