River course
The Torch River drains the 491 m high Candle Lake in central Saskatchewan, 75 km northeast of the city of Prince Albert . The Torch River flows mainly in an easterly direction. In places it forms a strongly meandering behavior with numerous river loops. On the lower 110 km it runs just a few kilometers north of the Saskatchewan River, which is dammed there to form Tobin Lake . 40 km below Tobin Lake, the Torch River finally meets the Saskatchewan River. Major tributaries are the White Fox River from the right and Adams Creek from the left. The Saskatchewan Highway 106 (Prince Albert - Flin Flon ) crosses the river about 190 km above the mouth. The rural community ( rural municipality ) Torch River No. 488 extends north of the Saskatchewan River and covers about half of the Torch River basin.
Hydrology
The Torch River drains an area of about 10,000 km². The mean discharge at the Love gauge , 128 km above the estuary, is 8.34 m³ / s. The highest monthly outflows usually occur from May to July.
