The Toreby Barneshøj (also called Thoreby Barneshøi or Toreby Barneshøj Jættestue) is Toreby , east of Maribo in Guldborgsund municipality on the Danish island of Lolland .

Toreby Barneshøj

The small passage grave ( Danish Jættestue ) only half survived. In 2009 the authorities decided to restore the facility. The passage grave is a form of Neolithic megalithic systems , which consists of a chamber and a structurally separated, lateral passage. This form is primarily found in Denmark, Germany and Scandinavia, as well as occasionally in France and the Netherlands.

The only remaining 14 ton capstone was put back on and the seven bearing stones stabilized. Replaced stones in the missing half of the chamber and in the passage have been marked to indicate that they are reconstructed parts. The original hill must have been relatively high. The fairly low new hill is the result of restoration. The result gives a good idea of how the passage graves are built.

The Langdyssen in Rykkerup Skov are west of Rykkerup in Toreby. The Runddysse Kjallesten and the Runddysse von Toreby lie to the east.
