Torian is a German power metal band from Paderborn .
history
During the Wacken Open Air 2002 the guitarist Carl Delius and the drummer Manuel Will decided to start a band. Later the bassist Tobias Mix and the second guitarist Alexander Thielmann joined them. In February 2003 the singer Marc Hohlweck completed the band. The band name comes from the novel cycle Die Saga von Garth und Torian by Wolfgang Hohlbein . Also in 2003 the band released their demo Into the Winter , which brought Torian an album contract with the Underground Symphony record label . The debut album Dreams Under Ice , produced by David Hambach, was released on January 28, 2005. During the recording, Manuel Will left the band, so that producer Hambach himself can partly be heard on the album.
In the same year Tobias Mix and David Hambach left Torian and were replaced by Bengt Kunze and Manuel Gonstalla. The band switched to the Sound Guerilla label and released on January 23, 2009 the second studio album Thunder Times produced by Niko Schaffranek . The third studio album Dawn was released on May 18, 2012. After the contract with Sound Guerilla had expired, Torian released the EP on October 30th, 2015 on his own , which was produced by Orden-Ogan singer Sebastian Levermann. Finally Torian switched to Ram It Down Records and released the fourth studio album God of Storms on November 23, 2018, also produced by Sebastian Levermann . Hagen Hirschmann from the band Van Canto can be heard as a guest singer .
style
Torian plays power metal. Guitarist Carl Delius names bands like Running Wild , Blind Guardian and Iron Maiden as main influences. But bands from outside the genre such as Amon Amarth or Be'Lakor , who tend to play melodic death metal , also influence the musicians.
