Tormod Haugen
Tormod Haugen (born May 12, 1945 in Trysil ; † October 18, 2008 ) was a Norwegian writer and translator.
Haugen studied German, art history and literature at the University of Oslo . He made his debut in 1973 with the children's book Not Like Last Year ( Ikke som i fjor ) and subsequently wrote a number of other works that have been translated into 24 languages. In 1990 Haugen received the renowned Hans Christian Andersen Prize for The Night Birds , and in 1984 he was the first children's book author to be nominated for the Nordic Council's Literature Prize.
Haugen translated from several languages, including the Narnia series by Clive Staples Lewis .
