Torpedo Moscow (band)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Torpedo Moscow was a punk rock band from Hamburg . The band existed from 1983 to 1986 and consisted of Martin Witte (vocals, guitar), Arne Wagner (vocals, bass) and Stephan Mahler (vocals, drums). In contrast to other Hamburg punk bands of that time, they did not play German punk , but rather dark psychedelic sound, influenced by American bands like the Wipers . They are therefore considered to be representatives of Depro-Punk and were pioneers for other German bands such as Angeschissen , Blumen am Arsch der Hölle and others. Torpedo Moscow members have also been involved in Slime , Napalm , Screamer, Das Moor, Bierspieler, C3I, Noise Annoys, Arm, Square the Circle, Witte XP and other bands.

The Flensburg band Turbostaat covered the title “Trauertränen” from the Torpedo Moscow album Malenkaja Rabota on their 2003 album “Schwan”.
