Torrozelo (also Torroselo ) is a locality and former municipality in Portugal .

history

The place was officially documented for the first time in 1136, in the town charter for Seia issued by D. Afonso Henriques . Torrozelo received its own town charter for the first time in the 12th century, later than 1150 (the exact date is not known). King D. Manuel I renewed the town charter in 1514. Torrozelo remained the seat of an independent district until the administrative reforms after the Liberal Revolution in 1822 and the Miguelistenkrieg that followed in 1834 . In 1836 the Torrozelos district was dissolved and Seia was incorporated.

In the course of the territorial reform in 2013, Torrozelo was merged with Folhadosa to form a new municipality.

Torrozelo was a municipality ( freguesia ) in the district ( concelho ) of Seia , in the district of Guarda . On June 30, 2011 the community had 481 inhabitants in an area of ​​6.5 km².

As part of the administrative reorganization in Portugal , the municipality was dissolved on September 29, 2013 and merged with Folhadosa to form the new municipality of União das Freguesias de Torrozelo e Folhadosa . Torrozelo became the seat of the new municipality.
