Torsten Persson

Torsten Erik Persson (born April 18, 1954 in Stockholm ) is a Swedish economist .

Life

Persson graduated from Stockholm University with a PhD . There he has been director of the Institute for International Economic Studies since 1998 . He is also a professor at the London School of Economics and Political Science . His publications are mostly in the field of recent political economy and institutional economy . Persson was u. a. President of the European Economic Association . In 2001 Persson became a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences , and in 2011 he received an honorary doctorate from the University of Mannheim .
