Torture Division was a Swedish death metal band from Örebro that was formed in 2007 and disbanded in 2014.
history
The band was founded in late 2007 by the guitarist Kentha Philipson aka "Lord K Philipson", the drummer Tobias "Tobben" Gustafsson and the singer and bassist Jörgen Sandström. The group's goal was not to release an album. Rather, a trilogy of demos always appeared , which in turn were re-released as compilations . The group made their songs available for free and instead hoped to make money by selling merchandising . The demos were all made available free of charge as a download on the band's website. A total of eight demos were released from 2008 to 2012. In addition to a single in 2008 under the name Suffer the Shitmas , Abyss Records also released compilations in 2009 under the name With Endless Wrath We Bring upon Thee Our Infernal Torture and, in 2010, called Evighetens dårar . The group was also active live and was represented at the Inferno Metal Festival Norway in 2010 and at the Eindhoven Metal Meeting in 2011 . More demos were released until 2013, after which the compilation The Army of Three was released on Pink Canoe Records . This was followed by more demos before it was dissolved in 2014. The demos were often mixed by Dan Swanö .
style
According to Janne Stark in The Heaviest Encyclopedia of Swedish Hard Rock and Heavy Metal Ever! the band plays fast death metal that uses blast beats in the style of Grave and Dismember . In his review of With Endless Wrath We Bring upon Thee Our Infernal Torture , Matthias from metal.de wrote that the group played fast and aggressive Death Metal. The band doesn't play this style of music in the style of Grave, but rather resembles The Project Hate MCMXCIX and Malevolent Creation . Angry Metal Guy assigned the band to Death Metal in his review of Evighetens dårar on angrymetalguy.com . The songs are aggressive, brutal, technically a little demanding and old school and have a slight Grindcore influence .
