Life

After a youth delegation visited the city of Hanover for the first time under his leadership in 1968 , cooperation between the cities of Hiroshima and Hanover and their youth exchange began. With a high level of personal commitment, he campaigned for meetings, getting to know and friendship between young people from both cities. It is largely thanks to Toshihiko Hayashi that Hiroshima and Hanover entered into a city partnership in 1983 .

Regarding Hayashi's death, Hanover’s mayor Stephan Weil declared :

“The state capital Hanover has lost a long-term partner and good friend. We will keep an honorable memory of Toshihiko Hayashi. We will continue our good contacts with Hiroshima, especially when it comes to encounters with young people. "
