İrma Felegyan

İrma Felegyan or Felekyan , with stage name Toto Karaca (born March 18, 1912 in Istanbul , Ottoman Empire , † July 22, 1992 in Istanbul), was a well-known Turkish stage and film actress of Armenian descent.

Life

İrma Felegyan was born in Istanbul in 1912 as a member of the Armenian minority in Turkey . Her mother was Mari Hranuş Felegyan. İrma Felegyan learned ballet dancing during her childhood. During her appearances in musicals , she preferred the name İrma Toto . Her last name changed to Karaca when she married Azerbaijani stage actor Mehmet İbrahim Karaca in 1939 .

In the 1930s İrma Felegyan appeared in Ömer Aydın's operettas . She was one of the founders of the Istanbul Theater in 1960. İrma Felegyan died in 1992 in Istanbul and was buried in the family grave of the Armenian cemetery in Şişli .

She is the mother of rock musician Cem Karaca .
