The teardrop butterflyfish ( Chaetodon unimaculatus ) lives in small groups of 3 to 5 animals throughout the tropical Indo-Pacific and the Red Sea . It is often found at depths of up to 15 meters near leather corals . There are color forms with a more white or more yellow basic color.
The teardrop butterflyfish grows up to 23 centimeters long. It feeds mainly on coral polyps , as well as sponges , bristle worms and algae .
