Trace Bundy
Trace Bundy (* 1977 in Austin , Minnesota ) is an American acoustic guitarist who mainly performs and lives in Boulder , Colorado . Before becoming a full-time professional musician, he taught at Boulder University , where he studied mechanical engineering from 2000 to 2003 and graduated with a Masters in Civil Engineering.
Life
Trace Bundy moved with his parents to Buena Vista ( Colorado ), where he met with about eleven years for the first time with a guitar came into contact. Having no money to take lessons, Bundy taught himself to play through the songs of Metallica and Def Leppard . At the age of eleven he wrote his first piece, which is the only track on which he sings himself.
Bundy later became interested in music theory . He worked out his own theories, which he called, for example, Trace's Seventh Chord Theory . In college he took a course in music theory and found his own earlier findings confirmed, albeit under a different name.
In high school he met Jonah Werner, an acoustic folk songwriter , with whom he played folk songs . He later teamed up with Tim Thornton of Newcomers Home , with whom he worked on old Bob Dylan and Cat Stevens songs.
His style began to change when he found that he could play more complex music without a pick and with ten fingers. Since then, Trace Bundy has continued to refine his musical style.
Bundy's music
Bundy is also known as "The Acoustic Ninja " in his special field of music , as he has perfected the technique of tapping - a special type of guitar without a pick . His own style includes all ten fingers in guitar playing. The resulting sound leads the listener to assume at least two guitars, as Bundy sometimes plays the bass and hookline at the same time. “ The whole ninja thing comes from my early childhood, ” said Bundy in an interview with Chris Hess of Fort Collins Newspaper The Rocky Mountain Collegian on August 28, 2003. “ I dressed up as a ninja, drew almost exclusively ninjas, and somehow sloshed it over into my music. "
He cites artists such as Béla Fleck , Phil Keaggy , David Wilcox, Ani Difranco , Def Leppard or Stryper as role models , with whose music he not only learned to play, but who also influenced him significantly as a musician.
Bundy is an independent artist whose performances are largely organized by his fans in their hometowns. He is known by his fans for his courtesy and humor.

His debut album O Night Divine was released in 1999. In it he played those traditional Christmas carols that have grown particularly dear to him over the years. In 2000 he released his first album, Solomons Splendor , which was followed in 2004 by the combination CD / DVD Adapt . The DVD is a recording of a performance in Boulder in the summer of 2004. Parts of it are an adaptation of the Backstreet Boys hit I want it that way as well as his own interpretation of the classic Canon in D by Johann Pachelbel on the acoustic guitar.
