Béla Fleck
Béla Fleck (born July 10, 1958 in New York ) is an American bluegrass and jazz musician.
Béla Fleck started playing folk guitar in early childhood . When he was 15 years old, his grandfather gave him a banjo . Since then the banjo has been his main instrument. Fleck plays with bands and musicians from various fields. From 1981 to 1989 he was a member of New Grass Revival . He is the band leader of the Flecktones (with Victor Wooten among others ), but worked with Edgar Meyer on several releases on Sony Classical.
From 1995 to 2016, Fleck won 15 Grammys in fields as diverse as country, jazz, pop, world music and crossover classic and was nominated another 30 times.
He played the driving banjo in the official song of the 2004 European Football Championship in Portugal: Força ("Hau rein!") By Nelly Furtado .
