Philip Tyler Keaggy (born March 23, 1951 in Youngstown , Ohio ) is a guitarist , singer and composer of modern Christian music . He has published over 50 music albums and has worked as a studio musician on many more.

He was seven times with the Dove Award of the Gospel Music Association for Best Instrumental Album Award and was twice for the Grammy Award nominated for Best Rock Gospel Album .

Keaggy grew up with nine siblings on a small farm in Hubbard , Ohio. He graduated from high school in Austintown , where he graduated 1970th

Despite a small handicap, he lost half the middle finger of his right hand at the age of four, and began playing the guitar when he was ten. He was voted the best fingerstyle guitarist several times in the readers' polls of Guitar Player Magazine .
