The Kompozitor Kara Karaev class , also known as the trailer ship type 161 , is a series of ten inland sea ro-ro ships from VEB Neptun Werft Rostock . The ship class and the first ship in the series was named after the Azerbaijani composer Qara Əbülfəz oğlu Qarayev (alternative Azerbaijani spelling Qara Äbülfäz oğlu Qarayev; Russian Кара Абульфазович Караев / Kara Abulfasow).

history

The series was built for export to the Soviet Union . It was designed for use at sea and on the major inland waterways of the Soviet Union between the Baltic , Black and Caspian Seas . The maximum height of the fixed ship superstructures above the base was therefore limited to 18.4 meters. The lead ship kompozitor Kara Karaev was launched in 1984 stack . 10 units had been delivered by 1987.

technology

For the transport of vehicles, ISO containers , 40 feet - trailers , cargo , transport pallets and refrigerated containers have three loading decks available. Vehicles weighing up to 55 tons can drive onto the main deck via a 7.5 meter long and 5.5 meter wide angled rear ramp. The vehicles reach the lower deck via a lifting platform with a load capacity of 40 tons. The lifting platform for the upper deck can carry up to 45 tons. With a total of 713 meters of trailer lane length, the ship can accommodate 96 trailers of 20 feet or 37 trailers of 40 feet. The 8100 m 3 hold is designed for 136 TEU .

The load capacity on the open sea is 4673 tons, on rivers it is 678 tons (3.5 meters draft) and for the Caspian Sea it is 1568 tons.

Two marine diesel engines with an output of 2650 kilowatts each from VEB Maschinenbau Halberstadt drive two variable-pitch propellers. A speed of 15 knots and an action radius of 3000 nautical miles is achieved. A transverse thruster improves maneuverability.
