The TRAM-EM European TramDriver Championship is the European championship for tram drivers .

history

In 2012 the first event of the Tram EM took place on the 140th birthday of the Dresden tram . The event is organized by a local transport company that changes every year together with the Dresden production company that developed the concept and implementation in 2012.

TRAM-EM has been a registered word mark since 2014 .

concept

The European Tram Competition is held as a team competition, with a team consisting of a driver and a team supervisor. Transport companies that are allowed to register a maximum of one team can participate.

The championship will be held in two rounds, with the driver taking the wheel once each. Each round consists of 6 different disciplines. These can include disciplines such as target braking, triggering an emergency braking, measuring the lateral distance in the curve, exact stop at the platform, speed measurement with a hidden speedometer, precise driving past a barrier and tram bowling. In addition, the time is taken and is included in the rating. The event consists of a team presentation, training drives, a driver evening, competitions and the award ceremony.

So far, the championships have been held in conjunction with public celebrations by the host transport company, e.g. B. 140 years of trams in Dresden, 10 years of trams in Barcelona and 150 years of trams in Vienna . The aim of the event is to give trams a platform to exchange experiences internationally.
