The Tram Museum Bern after the Tram Museum Zurich the second tram museum in Switzerland . It's in the museum hall Weissenbühl housed and represents the history of the tram Bern .

description

The museum was set up in 2006 and 2007 by the Tramverein Bern (TVB) and is also operated by them. 100,000 francs from the culture prize of the civic community in Bern were available for the facility. Of the available funds, only around 40,000 francs were used for the facility. The Tramverein Bern has neither collected additional funds in advance for a specific purpose, nor has it ever specifically set aside.

The museum was opened on September 19, 2007. This is after the historic vehicles - unless they were used for special trips - have been housed there together with company vehicles for decades and have been viewed on request.

The Tram-Museum Bern has been a regular participant in the Long Night of Museums in Bern since it opened ; this was the case for the first time in 2008.

The steam tram of the Berner Tramway Company , as well as the historic city bus 5, are currently stationed elsewhere. They can only be viewed on site on special occasions.
