Tram Association Bern
The Bern Tramverein , abbreviated TVB , has around 200 members in 2011, who come from Switzerland, Europe and overseas. Around 35 active members look after the 40 historical vehicles that are widely stored in Bern's local and long-distance traffic.
history
The association was founded on June 19, 1973. The first president was Hans-Ulrich Suter. The first goal of the association was to preserve a four-axle train from the 1930s, a BLD front-hood car bus and a VBW motor vehicle of the Be 4/4 30–33 series.
On the occasion of the first ordinary general assembly on May 8, 1974, the association took over the Saurer front-hood bus 7 built in 1929 as a gift from the company Kiener & Wittlin. This had bought him in 1966 from the municipal transport company Bern (SVB) and used it for eight years for personnel transport. The restoration of the car by Ramseier & Jenzer cost the TVB 36,000 Swiss francs.
After the last run of the Blauer Bähnli on May 26, 1974, the Tramverein Bern achieved in negotiations with the United Bern-Worb-Bahnen (VBW) and the Solothurn-Zollikofen-Bern-Bahn (SZB) that the Be 4/4 30 from 1910 was sold as a museum car in the Boll car hall. It was handed over to the Écomusée d'Alsace in 1993 and has since been housed in a former salt hall.
At the General Assembly on April 30, 2016, the Tramverein Bern had to take the decision to part with several vehicles in order to reduce the costs due to the termination of the parking space due to personal needs in Aarberg and to avoid "an impending bankruptcy" , as well as for personnel reasons Hold grip. Such a vehicle causes additional costs between 2000 and 3600 francs per year. These are the trolleybus 9 from Biel, the STJ trolleybus 1 with associated trailer 23, the MOB railcar 16, the SZB railcar 6 from 1950 and the associated control car 222. The RBS MAN low-floor bus 5, as well as the VBM BDe 4/4 38 is there too. The association has also decided to part with the Gurtenbahn funicular car 2 made of aluminum from 1944 with the Himugüegeli (Swiss German expression for ladybird ). The previously decided takeover of the two RBS Gem 4/4 121 rail vehicles, a former baggage rail car from 1912 and the RBS water sprinkler car 706 will also be dispensed with.
