The village of Pankrazberg is one of two districts and the main town of the municipality of Fügenberg in the Zillertal . Like many mountain settlements in this area, Pankrazberg does not have a real town center, but mainly consists of a large number of farmsteads that extend south of the neighboring district of Fügenberg over the eponymous Pankrazberg on the western slope of the Zillertal. In addition to the Rotte Pankrazberg, the locality includes the scattered settlements Hinterberg, Hochfügen , Kleinboden and Pankrazberg-Dispersed Houses as well as numerous individual farms and alpine pastures.

Pankrazberg is located on the Hochfügen-Straße , which has its starting point in Fügen and from there leads over almost 14 kilometers to the Hochfügen at 1,480 meters.

history

The settlement history of the place goes back to the Middle Ages, the original place name was Swentberg . It was not until 1385 that the earliest documented mention as Pankrazienberg can be traced , whereby the name comes from that of St. Pankratius church is coming. When Tyrol became Austrian again after the Napoleonic Wars, the two places Pankrazberg and Fügenberg merged to form the municipality of Fügenberg in 1816 as part of the Tyrolean municipal constitution.
