Tram , Czech title Tramvaj , is an animated short film by Michaela Pavlátová from 2012, which was made in a French-Czech co-production.

action

A tram driver begins her duty. It carries numerous men who, like every morning, read their newspapers, ignore them and stamp their tickets by machine. The woman does her job, drives the train with the help of two levers, which monotonously leads her back and forth, and every now and then falls into dreams. This leads to the first emergency braking as she almost drove her tram into the traffic. As the journey continues, which leads rhythmically through a tunnel, the woman feels increasingly excited. The levers she manipulates take on phallus-like shapes and the passengers, too, become increasingly larger phallus-like beings in pink in the woman's imagination. The tram driver unbuttons her top and her pink bra becomes visible. However, she soon has to apply another emergency stop because she almost ran over a cat. She licks her genitals on the rails before she leaves. In the further course of the journey, the tram driver gives in to her erotic fantasies, sees herself in a sea of phallic beings and fantasizes about ticket cancellations in the form of penetration .

When the woman comes to, the passengers stare at her in disbelief. Ashamed, the woman opens the tram doors and the men rush out. Only one person stops, but turns to leave when the woman cannot look up out of sheer shame. The woman parks her tram in the depot and slowly walks away. The man has been waiting for her and the woman hesitates. Shortly afterwards you can see the purple-lit tram and in it the shadows of the two people. The tram moves rhythmically away from its depot.

production

In 2006 Michaela Pavlátová had already created an animated film with erotic elements with Carnival zvířat . Tram was created as part of the French film project Sexperiences , which is dedicated to the erotic fantasies of women. The idea for the film came to Pavlátová “through the music and the rhythm”. Tram was animated in shades of gray, while sexual or sexualized elements as well as the erotic fantasies of the “love-mad tram driver” appear in shades of pink.

Tram was part of the program at the Cannes International Film Festival in 2012 .

Awards

At the Festival d'Animation Annecy , Tram was awarded the Cristal d'Annecy in 2012.

Tram was shortlisted for an Oscar in 2013 in the “ Best Animated Short ” category.
