In 1975 the shipping companies Aug. Bolten Wm. Miller's successor , Reederei Nord , Fisser & van Doornum , and Bernhard Schulte ordered a series of ten medium-sized 8200 tdw single deck cargo ships from the Kawasho Corporation in Osaka. Decisive for the order in Japan at the time were on the one hand a temporary funding program from the Federal Republic of Germany and on the other hand the delivery of the series, which was promised at very short notice, as well as the low construction price of around 10 million DM per unit. At that time, European shipyards estimated around 16 to 19 million DM per ship for comparable units. The series was used jointly via a chartering pool of the tramp shipping association Trampko , whose management was in the hands of Fisser & van Doornum until 1996 and was then carried out by the Bolten shipping company. The series proved itself well in operation. Some of the ships had been in service for their original clients for more than two decades before they were sold. Most of the ships have now been scrapped, but some units are still in service.
details
The ships of the series were designed as dry bulk carriers with a deckhouse far aft and three holds . The front hold was shorter than the long middle and aft hold. The three cargo holds without tween decks possessed a volume of 10,136 m 3 grain space and 9929 m 3 ballroom. Mainly the Trampko bulkers were used in the transport of bulk goods and bulk cargo. The ships had an "H" mast in front of the bridge and two "T" masts arranged between the hatches. The loading gear consisted of two load beams each with a lifting capacity of 20 tons and three for up to 15 tons. The holds of the ships were closed with Navire steel hatch covers.
The ships were powered by a six-cylinder, two-stroke Mitsubishi 6UEC52 105D diesel engine with an output of 6200 hp. The engine worked directly on the fixed propeller and allowed a speed of about 15 knots. Two auxiliary diesels were also available. Unlike the basic type of ships, the Trampko bulkers were equipped with a bulbous bow .
