Trampko

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Trampko , originally a Hamburg tramp shipping company , is an amalgamation of German shipping companies active in the trampoline industry , which, among other things, designed various types of ships .

History and activity

Trampko was founded in 1967 as an organization for cooperation in various fields of shipping.

The affreightment pools are of particular importance in joint activities. In the course of their activity, various member shipping companies have come together several times to jointly commission series ships and freight them together. On the one hand, better prices can be achieved when ordering series of ships; on the other hand, freighting pools with a larger number of ships of the same type offer shipping companies the possibility of better ship management. The most important field of work of Trampko nowadays is the joint purchase of lubricants and other consumables such as paints, equipment or spare parts. Trampko maintains various working groups in which shipowners, inspectors, charterers and other shipping company participants can exchange their experiences, for example in annual operating cost comparisons or personnel, purchasing or charter questions. Trampko has been organizing a series of lectures for trainees in shipping since 1996.

Examples of Trampko construction series are the Trampko multi-purpose freighters commissioned at the end of the 1960s , the ten Porter-type ships delivered by Dutch shipyards in 1972 , the ten Trampko bulkers built in Japan a short time later, or a series of 17 also built in Japan Coasters . Twenty years after its foundation, the member shipping companies operated 250 ships, in the 2010s over 350.

Since 2017, the purchasing part of Trampko has been handled together with the Purchase Alliance in the "Trampko Purchase Alliance", or TPA for short. The Trampko remains as an independent unit.

Co-initiator and first acting managing director of Trampko from 1996 to 2008 was Klaus H. Johns as managing director of the shipping company Fisser & v. Doornum , which was a member until 1999.
