Trankjer
Trankjer ( Danish Trankær ) is a forest area of about 22 hectares in the municipalities of Esgrus and Stangheck in the fishing region in the northeast of Schleswig-Holstein . The Trankjer can be characterized as a richly structured, predominantly moist (cf. kær ) mixed deciduous forest . In the northern part there is a larger clearing with grassland use. The forest is crossed by the Lüchtofter Mühlenau . There are three burial mounds of former stone graves in the forest. To the north the forest is continued in the 8 hectare Christianslücke ( Christiansløkke ), to the northeast in the 27 hectare wooden paddock ( Skovkobbel ) belonging to the Rundhof estate . In the vicinity are the groups of houses Stausmark ( Stavsmark ) and Röhrmoos ( Rørmose ).
The field name is first documented in writing in 1690. The prefix Tran- goes to Danish. trane for cranes (cf. old north. trana ). A -kær denotes a (moist) undergrowth (cf. old northern kjarr or kjǫrr ). The name therefore means something like "Kratt the crane". The area is now designated as a FFH area forest south of Holzkoppel as a NATURA 2000 protected area.
