The Transgourmet Germany GmbH & Co. OHG (until the end of 2013 , REWE-Foodservice and until end of June 2010 REWE bulk consumer service based in Mainz-Hechtsheim ) is a German food trading company based in Riedstadt and a former subsidiary of Rewe Group . Transgourmet is the market leader in Germany in the field of bulk consumer deliveries.

On January 1, 2011, the Transgourmet Holding and thus also Rewe-Foodservice were taken over in full by Coop (Switzerland) . Since January 2014 the company has also been trading as Transgourmet.

Business area

Transgourmet supplies large consumers such as the catering and large kitchens with groceries and other needs. It has its own fleet of vehicles, also takes on the planning, equipment and maintenance of large kitchens and restaurants with cooperation partners, sells IT kitchen management systems and organizes trade fairs. It also has cash & carry stores in Mainz , Bremen , Koblenz and Saarlouis (under the name Transgourmet Cash & Carry ). The Saarlouis location was taken over by the Distributa group of companies in 2007 .

The private labels of Transgourmet are premium , quality , economy and origin .

history

Founded and developed until 2014

The company began in the owner-managed Vogler company in Mainz. At that time, the company supplied restaurateurs and company kitchen managers in the Mainz area. In 1995 this core was expanded to include the Franke + Panzer companies taken over from the Spar retail chain . In 1997, the BLV stores , sold by the Metro Group, were added. In 2000 Sanco from Bremen was taken over. 2002 acquisitions followed the major consumer activities of the FZ-Fresh-Service GmbH in Neu-Ulm, the FZ-South and the large consumers activities of A. Hinsch & Co . in the new federal states. In 2003 the bulk consumer activities of the Hamburg cheese warehouse were taken over. In the same year the name was changed to REWE-Großverbrauch-Service Nord GmbH, based in Hamburg.

In 2006, the delivery wholesaler of Freshness-Zentrum-Nordwest GmbH (FZNW) based in Bremen was taken over. A year later, the name was changed again to REWE-Großverbrauch-Service GmbH. The Stöver fresh service was then taken over by the Stöver group of companies. In 2009 the REWE Group founded a joint venture with Coop Switzerland : the Transgourmet Holding . REWE-Großverbrauch-Service is part of the joint venture. On July 1, 2010 the company changed its name to REWE-Foodservice.

In 2011, Coop took over 100% of the Transgourmet Group, including REWE Foodservice. In 2012 REWE-Foodservice took over the Hessian supplier for delicatessen and dairy products Ringk.

In 2014 REWE-Foodservice changed its name to Transgourmet. The Transgourmet, Selgros Cash & Carry and Transgourmet Cash & Carry sales lines are to be managed under the Transgourmet Germany umbrella brand .

Development since 2015

In 2015, the Transgourmet Group took over the majority in the Hamburg company Sump & Stammer, EGV Unna AG and the Frischeparadies Group. In 2017 Team Beverage AG, gastronovi and Global Foods became part of the Transgourmet Group. The takeover of the food wholesaler Niggemann followed on January 1, 2018.

At the beginning of 2019, Team Beverage was approved by the EU Commission as a joint venture with the Oetker Group . The company specializes in the electronic trade in beverages and offers solutions for the beverage wholesaling and catering trade .

On May 1, 2019, Transgourmet took over the business operations of Sanalogic GmbH. Sanalogic GmbH is a leading company in the development, implementation and support of total software solutions in the field of communal catering.

Key figures

In 2006, Rewe GVS achieved gross sales of 843 million euros with 2100 employees; In 2007 sales rose to 1,057 million euros.
