The Trappist Abbey Awhum (Latin Abbatia Beatae Mariae de Monte Calvario ; English Our Lady of Mount Calvary Abbey ) has been a Nigerian monastery of the Trappists in Enugu , Diocese of Enugu , since 1978 .

history

Anselm Abraham Ojefua (1910-1988), of the Order in 1953 Knights of Saint Mulumba had been launched, founded in 1970 in the northwest of Enugu, with the support of the local bishop Godfrey Okoye , the Holy Ghost was the monastery of Our Lady of Mount Calvary ( "Our love Frau vom Kalvarienberg ”), which was incorporated into the Cistercian order of the Strict Observance ( Trappist ) in 1978 and made a priory in 1981 and an abbey in 2006 . The immediate superior is (as for the Nigerian Trappist monastery Illah ) the Trappist Genesee Abbey .
