The Trappistinnenabtei Valserena is since 1968 Italian monastery of Trappist nuns in Guardistallo , Province of Pisa , Roman Catholic Diocese of Volterra .

history

In 1967 the Vitorchiano monastery sent the first Trappist women to Tuscany (30 kilometers southeast of Livorno ) to found the monastery of Our Lady of Valserena (after the former Cistercian monastery Valserena near Parma ). The monastery was elevated to an abbey at the end of 1968 and in turn founded the Trappist convent Huambo in Angola in 1983 . From 2004 Valserena sent sisters to the Cistercian monastery of the Most Holy Trinity and thus made an attempt to bring the way of life of Trappist women and Cistercian women closer together.
