Tremellomycetes is a class of mushrooms . They essentially correspond to the earlier class of the Heterobasidiomycetes. The ear flap relatives are now assigned to the mushroom-like (= Hymenomycetes in the sense of Hibbett and authors (2007)).

features

The fruiting bodies of many Tremellomycetes species have a tough, rubbery consistency. They can have a shell, coral, or club-shaped appearance. The spore stands of the mushrooms usually sit on the actual basidia and are therefore called epibasidia. These are an essential feature of the Tremellomycetes.
