Screenwriter Colin Rogers is moving from Melbourne to Sydney . There he met the author Mike McCord and his girlfriend Helen.
Rogers and McCord try to mimic the American action films. Since the films flop, the two reflect on the traditions of the Australian film industry and become successful.
