The Trustees of Labor (also Reich Trustees of Labor ) were an instance created by Reich law on May 19, 1933, which were supposed to mediate in conflicts in companies between employers and workers. A total of 22 trustees were appointed, all of whom were directly subordinate to the Reich Labor Ministry.

The Reich trustees of work were part of the workforce and operational harmonization of society during the National Socialist era .

The trustees were usually recruited from the private sector, state employment and economic administrations or from the chambers of industry and commerce ( IHK ). The appointment of a trustee was valid for one year (from May 1st every year) and could be renewed every year.

The tasks of the trustees were in detail:

  • Establishing the tariff regulations and monitoring their implementation
  • Maintenance of industrial peace
  • Dispute Resolution
  • Formation of the trust council
  • Monitoring and compliance with the operating rules
  • Participation in the social justice system
  • Obligation to notify the Reich Ministry of Labor and the Reich Chancellery about the socio-political developments in their economic areas
  • Participation in aryanizations

A consultation with the trustee of the Bahn (first name unknown) in Essen has shown that he has been informed about the purchase negotiations and that he considers it necessary to at least limit the foreign passports of the Jews Barmé to the inland.
