Karl Hahn (born May 17, 1901 in Allmendshofen ; † March 6, 1982 in Allensbach ) was a German CDU politician .

Life and work

After attending primary school , Hahn, who was of Protestant faith, first attended vocational school until 1917 . He then completed a commercial apprenticeship and worked as an employee. From 1924 on he was active in the German National Handicrafts Association (DHV), initially as head of youth work, later as district chief until the professional associations were integrated into the German Labor Front , DAF, by the National Socialists . From 1934 to 1939 he was a partner in a coffee wholesale business with a mail order business. After that he was commercial director of a company in Berlin until 1945. In 1946 he became managing director of the confectionery manufacturer August Storck in Werther . From 1950 he worked as a management consultant in the food industry.

In 1950 Hahn took part in the founding of the German Trade Aid Association and became its chairman.

Parties

During the Third Reich, Hahn worked as a trustee for the Nazi government.

Hahn became a member of the CDU in 1945. Initially district chairman for East Westphalia / Lippe, he later rose to become deputy state chairman in Westphalia .

MP

Hahn was a member of the German Bundestag from 1953 to 1969. From February 27, 1958 to January 21, 1970 he was also a member of the European Parliament .

Honors

Karl Hahn was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit in 1968 .
