Reichsgau Vienna
The Reichsgau Vienna was one of seven Reichsgaues of the German Reich formed in accordance with the Ostmarkgesetz on May 1, 1939 in Austria annexed to Austria in 1938 and consisted of Greater Vienna , which was formed on October 15, 1938 until 1945. From 1939 to 1942 the seven Reichsgaue were in the former Austria as Ostmark , from 1942 referred to as Alpen- und Donau-Reichsgaue , in order to remove any reference to the former Austria .

The NSDAP party structure for the city of Vienna was founded in 1926. Because of the party ban in 1933, the party worked illegally until 1938. In 1939, the Reichsgau Wien was created through the Ostmarkgesetz . The Reichsjugendführer Baldur von Schirach took over him in 1940, from 1942 additionally as Reich Defense Commissioner .

The Gauleiter's deputy was SS-Brigadführer Karl Scharitzer , the Reich's governor's deputy was District President Hans Dellbrügge .
