Trevor Bolder (* 9. June 1950 in Kingston upon Hull , Yorkshire , England ; † 21st May 2013 ) was a British rock - bass player , songwriter and music producer .

Life

In the mid-1960s, Bolder played in the local R&B scene, which also included guitarist and multi-instrumentalist Mick Ronson . Both celebrated their breakthroughs in David Bowie's backing band , known as Spiders from Mars soon after Bowie's album The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars . Bolder occasionally played the trumpet here.

In 1976 he was recruited by Uriah Heep to replace the previous bassist John Wetton . After four albums ( Firefly , Innocent Victim , Fallen Angel and Conquest ) the band broke up for a short time in 1981. Bolder then came under with the twin guitar formation Wishbone Ash , curiously again as a replacement for John Wetton. With this band he recorded the album Twin Barrels Burning and went on tour with her. In 1983 he returned to Uriah Heep's rhythm section, where he replaced Bob Daisley on bass. In the albums that followed, Bolder also increasingly appeared as a lyricist, composer and producer for Uriah Heep.

Bolder also played with the Cybernauts, a short-lived David Bowie cover band.

He died of cancer on May 21, 2013.
