Triabunna is a small town in the southeast of the Australian state of Tasmania . The administrative center of the Local Government Area Glamorgan Spring Bay Municipality is located 84 km northeast of Hobart on the east coast of the island. Triabunna originated at the confluence of MacCleans Creek and Vickerys Rivulet in Spring Bay . The Tasman Highway (A3) runs through the city. In the 2016 census, the population was determined to be 749.

The Louisville residential area, approx. 5 km south of the city center, is considered to be the “satellite town” of Triabunna.

history

The name 'Triabunna' is the Tasmanian Aboriginal name for the endemic Tasmanian grouse . The city was founded in 1830 as barracks for the 63rd Regiment and later for the 51st Regiment, and for some time Triabunna Home .

Triabunna is a city worth seeing, surrounded by beaches, hills and eucalyptus groves. There are many historic colonial buildings in the area. From Triabunna you have a beautiful view of Maria Island , which can be reached after a short ferry ride.

The weather on Tasmania's east coast is particularly mild. Triabunna is known for its warm, sunny summers and is therefore well suited as a holiday destination and resting place. The beautiful, easily accessible beaches make the city interesting for water sports enthusiasts who fish, sail, surf or dive. Triabunna also has facilities for tennis, cricket, golf and Australian football. Hikes through the adjacent forests are also popular.
