Trianthema is a plant kind from the family of aizoaceae (Aizoaceae). The botanical name of the genus is derived from the Greek words "τρία" (tria) for three and "άνςέμον" (anthemon) for flower .
description
The species of the genus Trianthema are annual to perennial plants whose shoots are sometimes woody at the base. The stalked leaves are unevenly large. The epidermis is more or less bald, papillary or hairy .
The flowers are solitary or in more or less compact cymes . The 5-lobed single flowers have two bracts. Your perigone is fused at the base. There are 5 to many stamens present. The ovary has only one scar .
The fruits burst open in a ring. They contain one to several triangular, kidney-shaped or curved black seeds .
Systematics and distribution
The genus Trianthema occurs in dry subtropical to tropical areas in a wide belt from 40 degrees north to 40 degrees south latitude. The plants often grow in salty places.
The first scientific description was published in 1753 by Carl von Linné in Species Plantarum . Type species is Trianthema portulacastrum . According to Heidrun Hartmann , the genus Trianthema includes the following species:
