Triazene is a chemical compound from the triazenes group and its parent compound.
Extraction and presentation
Triazene can be obtained from hydrazine by pulse radiolysis .
However, the compound is unstable and breaks down into ammonia and nitrogen . The disintegration half-life at room temperature in water as a thermolysis medium is about 1/100 s (acidic medium) to 100 s (weakly alkaline medium). The decomposition of trans -triazene takes place via cis -triazene, which arises from trans -triazene by configuration isomerization.
properties
According to calculations, triazene is present as trans triazene (see planar HN 3 framework, weakly pyramidalized amine nitrogen). It is thermodynamically several kJ mol −1 lower in energy than the configurationally isomer cis -triazene.
use
Derivatives of triazenes are used to produce other organic compounds (e.g. resins and drugs such as dacarbazine , diminazen, etc.).
