location

The Triemli is located in the Wiedikon district ( District 3 ), in the area of the Friesenberg district . Due to its location at the south-western end of the city of Zurich, between the districts of Dietikon and Affoltern , it is an important junction for public and private transport.

The Triemli also opens up the local recreation area of the Uetliberg . For example, the Hohensteinweg, popular as a toboggan run in winter, leads to the mountain station of the Uetlibergbahn.

history

The field name Triemli has only been used since the beginning of the 19th century, but can be traced back to the 15th and 16th centuries. In 1551 "Trüembach" and later "Trüebenbach" were mentioned as the name of a stream . “Trimbach”, “Trüemli” and “Trüemlibach” established themselves in the 17th and 18th centuries.

Colloquially, Triemli is used equally for the Triemli City Hospital and the surrounding area.

traffic

Public transport

Wiedikon received his 'own' tram and access to public transport with the Zurich urban tram (StStZ), which opened the tram line Hauptbahnhof – Sihlbrücke – Werdstrasse – Heuried in 1898/99. The tram route was extended from Heuried to Triemli in 1926.

The Zurich public transport company (VBZ) ensures the connection to the city center with tram lines 14 and 9 (during rush hour) to the Triemli stop , the trolleybus line 33 to the Triemli stop and the bus lines 80 to Triemlispital (in the evening only to Triemli ) and 89 to Schweighof . The Triemli stop is also served by the Postbus lines 215, 220, 235, 245 and 350.

The Uetlibergbahn (S10) ( Triemli SZU stop ) of the Sihltal-Zürich-Uetliberg-Bahn (SZU) runs right through Wiedikon, where it serves four stops and has had increasing passenger numbers since the extension to Zurich's main station , analogous to the Sihltalbahn . The train leaves the city area from Triemli, but runs largely on Wiediker Boden to the Uetliberg terminus.

Private transport

The Triemli crosses several traffic axes, the most important of which, after Birmensdorf , ensures individual traffic to the neighboring communities of the Dietikon and Affoltern districts to the southwest .
