Trifolium bullatum is a one-year , herbaceous plant . The stem axis stands upright and branches off from the base. It is hairless or almost hairless.

The lower leaves are long stalked, the upper shorter. The leaves are three-fused, the individual pinna are about 8 millimeters long and about 4 millimeters wide. The blades are inverted egg-shaped and slightly notched at the tip. The base tapers off. The leaf margin is finely indented. The stipules are egg-shaped, green ribbed and more than half of them fused with the petiole that they enclose. The free part is lanceolate, protruding and with a long tip.

The inflorescences are 10 to 15 flowered and stalked about 1 centimeter long. To the anthesis , the inflorescence axes stand upright and the inflorescences measure between 4 and 9 millimeters. When the fruit ripens, the axes are bent downwards, the inflorescences then measure 5 to 8 millimeters in diameter.

The calyx is 2 to 3 millimeters long. It is tubular in the lower 2 millimeters. The calyx teeth are 1 millimeter long or shorter. As the fruit ripens, they become prickly or thickened misshapen. The crown is about 2 millimeters long and pink or white.

The legumes are about 1.2 millimeters long, single-seeded and lenticular. The seeds are spherical, between 1.1 and 1.5 millimeters in diameter and are yellow in color. The surface is shiny.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 16.
