from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Trio de Barcelona was a piano trio that was founded in Barcelona in 1911 . Founding members of the trio were the pianist Ricard Vives i Ballvé , the violinist Marià Perelló and the cellist Joaquim Pere Marès . This trio was the first Catalan chamber music ensemble to achieve significant international impact.

In 1913 it made its debut in Berlin with Ludwig van Beethoven's Ghost Trio in D major opus 70 , the Trio in G minor opus 110 by Robert Schumann and the Trio in F minor opus 65 by Antonín Dvořák . This performance was highly praised by the public and music critics and was then presented in Brussels, Paris, Barcelona and Madrid. Since then, the trio has given numerous concerts in musical metropolises in Europe and America. Until its dissolution in 1929, the trio gave more than 500 international concerts.

In 1981 the new Trio de Barcelona around the pianist Albert Atenell and the two Andorran brothers Gerard (violin) and Lluís Claret (cello) joined the name and artistic successors of the piano trio founded in 1911.
