Tristan Garcia
Tristan Garcia (born April 5, 1981 in Toulouse , France ) is a French author and philosopher .
Life
Garcia is the son of a teacher couple. He graduated from the École normal supérieure and is a doctor of philosophy. Although he is a lover of films and TV series, he failed twice to pass the entrance exams to the Fémis film school in Paris .
Garcia's first novel, La meilleure part des hommes , was rejected by five publishers and only published in France in 2008. The German translation (title: The Best Part of People ) was published in 2010. For his novel 7 he received the 'Prix du Livre Inter' in 2016. His critically acclaimed philosophical essay The Intense Life was shortlisted for the 2016 Prix Femina for Best Essay.
Garcia now teaches philosophy as Maître de conférences at the University of Lyon III .
