Tristan Garcia

Tristan Garcia (born April 5, 1981 in Toulouse , France ) is a French author and philosopher .

Life

Garcia is the son of a teacher couple. He graduated from the École normal supérieure and is a doctor of philosophy. Although he is a lover of films and TV series, he failed twice to pass the entrance exams to the Fémis film school in Paris .

Garcia's first novel, La meilleure part des hommes , was rejected by five publishers and only published in France in 2008. The German translation (title: The Best Part of People ) was published in 2010. For his novel 7 he received the 'Prix du Livre Inter' in 2016. His critically acclaimed philosophical essay The Intense Life was shortlisted for the 2016 Prix ​​Femina for Best Essay.

Garcia now teaches philosophy as Maître de conférences at the University of Lyon III .
