Trixie Mattel

Brian Michael Firkus (born August 23, 1989 in Milwaukee , Wisconsin ), known as Trixie Mattel , is an American drag queen , reality TV personality and country and folk musician. New York magazine listed Trixie Mattel as the fourth most influential drag queen in the United States in 2019.

Career

Firkus and his brother grew up in difficult family circumstances. Treasury's stepfather was an alcoholic and domestic violence occurred. His stepfather gave him the nickname Trixie because of his feminine behavior, which he later chose as the name for his drag persona. Firkus attended a cosmetics school and worked at Sephora . At the age of 19 he first appeared in drag at a performance of the Rocky Horror Picture Show . He later appeared as Trixie Mattel and became known regionally.

RuPaul's Drag Race

Trixie Mattel became known in 2015 as a participant in the seventh season of RuPaul's Drag Race where she took sixth place. In the third All-Stars season, Trixie Mattel took first place in 2018.

Trixie Mattel and her colleague Katya Zamolodchikova present the successful web series UNHhhh and the spin-off The Trixie & Katya Show . Its own line of cosmetics is sold under the name Trixie Cosmetics . In 2019 the documentary Trixie Mattel: Moving Parts was released, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival .

The EP Greener and the singles Where the Grass Is Much Greener and You Belong to Me were released under his real name in 2009 . In 2017, the debut album Two Birds was released, which reached number two in the US Heatseekers Charts . The following album, One Stone , number one on the US Heatseekers Charts, was also able to place in the Australian Top 100 and received good reviews. In Scotland, Trixie Mattel was also able to place itself in the charts with the first two albums and the single Moving Parts . After the notable successes Trixie Mattel established herself as a singer-songwriter , describing her style of music as "electro-folk". Trixie Mattel names June Carter Cash , Kacey Musgraves and Dolly Parton as her musical role models, whose glamorous demeanor is also the inspiration for her drag persona.
