Trizonia ( Greek Τριζόνια ( n. Pl. ), Pronunciation : [ triˈzɔnja ]) is a small Greek island in the Gulf of Corinth . Administratively it belongs to the municipality of Dorida in the region of Central Greece with (2011) 64 inhabitants.
The island is only 600 meters from the northern mainland, about 13 km north of the opposite coast of the Peloponnese . From Patras , 37 km away , the island can be reached via the Rio-Andirrio Bridge . The nearest shopping town with the Venetian port and fortress Nafpaktos is 25 km away, Galaxidi is 35 km away, Delphi 70 km.
Nearby are the uninhabited islets of Agios Ioannis, Planemi and Prasoudi.
A natural, largely closed bay forms a safe harbor, which was designed with newly built concrete piers for 150 ships. At the moment, a mooring fee of 10 euros (40 foot catamaran) is charged. A picturesque little fishing village with a few taverns, a small hotel, a small supermarket and the yacht club as well as a few holiday apartments follows.
Regular water taxis connect Trizonia with the mainland near Chania.
Motor vehicles are not allowed on the island.
