The Troy rises southwest of the city of Głubczyce ( Leobschütz ) in the meadows southeast of Dobieszów ( Dobersdorf ). Its headwaters lie on a watershed that drains to the north into the border stream to the Czech Republic, also called Trója / Troja .

On its further course to the southeast, the Troy flows through the village of Włodzienin ( Bladen ), the market town of Nowa Cerekwia ( German Neukirch ) and the town of Kietrz ( Katscher ).

Between the villages of Cyprzanów (Janowitz), Lekartów and Samborowice ( Schammerwitz, all to Pietrowice Wielkie ) the Troy flows into the Zinna after about 40 km, shortly before it passes the village of Wojnowice ( Woinowitz , zu Krzanowice ).
